I don't post often while I'm underway because I don't think it's really allowed, but whatever. I'm having one of those days. I just want to go home. I hate being out here for this long because I always feel like life is just passing by as it goes on while I sit here and replay the same day over and over again. Nothing changes out here and I get to sit here and lose a month of my life while everyone else is able to go on and live their lives. And I know it's going to be over soon, but that just doesn't feel like that is good enough right now. And I've still got the deployment looking me in the face. My only bright light is that I know I get to come home part of the way through the deployment. I can't wait to get out and live a normal life. I hate being in the Navy.

Emily pulled out her yearvbmnlook and Jamie has foudn trhe pcture of Eugene Kelly and now she is starring at them. She always liked Kelly. Becky just learnda importatn lesson. you can't pour somethig when the lid is on, now Jamie is rnanting about not doing wat she said she would di in hih school. She still loves Kely though.
Sorry about my lack of communication recently. I got home from the Gulf on October 2nd and got some time off so I took the opportunity to sit around and do nothing after working non-stop for a month. But then I had to actually go back to work and we've been really busy so we've been working long hours. The ship's working hours have changed now though. We work 5-12 in an effort to beat all the traffic to work. I just wanted to say hi to everyone and say sorry for not calling and all that. I do miss getting to see you guys.
I went and saw Thoroughly Modern Millie at Chrysler Hall today and it was awesome. Lots of singing and tap dancing and the general Broadway stuff that I love. Then this eveing when I got home I went and saw Sin City and it was amazing. If you haven't had a chance to see it yet, I highly recommend it if you can find the time. It's just really really good. The style was great and the splashes of color against the starch black and white made it visually awesome. Just don't bring your two little kids to it like this couple did tonight. It's one of the most violent movies I've ever seen(not to mention the nudity) and it is definetely not for kids. I always feel bad for little kids who get dragged to movies like this with their parents. Find a babysitter or something. Anyway, I'm off to pack now for the underway. Jamie, I'd like to get together while I'm on leave, so I'll call you next weekend when I get back in town.
I had to work this morning so I had to drag my dad out of bed at 4. You would think they would let the person who had a run in with the bus have a day off, but yeah, not so much. I did get a couple hours during the middle of the day to go pick up a rental car. A Kia Optima which is already off my list of potential new cars. And I did get a chance to go to the tow truck place and see the wreckage and rescue my cds and my Reba concert tickets. My cds are covered in coke from the Wendy's food I had so I'm going to attempt to clean them tomorrow. Here's hoping that works. I'll get the rest of my stuff out of the car on Monday. The airbag never deployed. I was told that because the bumper was never hit(the bus was too tall and I was under it) that they wouldn't have because the sensors for the airbags are in the bumper. That disturbs me. I fuckin' hit a bus head on and I don't get any airbags. Everyone is telling me that I need to talk to legal on Monday and seek some advice. And I'll learn more from my insurance company on Monday. That's about it. Anyone see me on the news? Well, the remains of my car and they showed me being loaded in the ambulance. They didn't ticket the bus driver because some of the kids ont he bus parents were in a car close by and said I ran a red light and two other ladies who stopped said I had the green light. I need to look into that too through legal. Because this is going to affect my insurance and that sucks for me. And now I'm going to go take some happy pain medicine that will knock me out so I can get some sleep.
Thnaks for the birthday wishes everyone. I had a good day. They even let me out of work early. My parents got my diploma framed for me. It's really nice. Jamie and Emily, did you know Mrs. Harris owns a frame shop now? She's the one who framed it for me. Kinda cool, I think.
I was stuck on the ship from Sunday night until Thursday night and I have to work all weekend. I feel so out of touch with everyone. Hi everyone. I'd like to be able to see you sometime, I really would. I'm still working on trying to plan something for Jamie for the 5th, but I'm not sure what to do. Emily, hi, email me, please. And I still need to find shoes so I can get the dress altered. I know I'm pushing it. I need to talk to my loan company so I can send info off to the Navy so they can start paying my loan. But when I have to get up at 3:30am so I can work until at least 6 that night and sometimes not be able to leave the ship at all, it makes it a little difficult to do all that. Sigh. I'll get it all done. I'm off Tuesday, so I'm going to try and get the shoes and make the dress appointment that day.
In happier news, Lindsey is doing good. She's so cute and has dark blue eyes. She's real cute.

My sister had her baby on February 2nd. A little girl named Lindsey Renee. She's a cutie. She has lots of dark hair and pretty blue eyes. That makes the niece count three and the nephew count still at one. The nieces are Olivia, Sydney and now Lindsey and my nephew is Owen. And they're all under three years old. Jamie, want to babysit? Alone? I'm kidding.
Emily, email me. Please.

Yes, I remember I have a journal. I guess I should have posted a while ago. Anyway, I'm home and will be here for years to come. The Navy's all right so far. I can tell you right now that it's not what I'm going to do with the rest of my life. But for now it's good experience and will be nice and helpful when I go to look for another(and better) job in about 4 and a half years now.
I bought my bridesmaid dress. I'm not sure if anyone else has theirs yet.
That's about it for now.

I finally emailed the women's studies teacher about the first reflection. Quick recap, I wrote a reflection on my understanding of a set of readings. I get it back with no grade and am told that I did not understand the readings and that my opinion in wrong.
Here's what I sent to her:
In regards to my first reflection, I was under the
impression that you were looking for opinions on my
understanding of the readings. That is what I believe
I wrote. You told me that I did not understand the
readings and that my thesis was wrong. My
understanding obviously differed from your's, but it
does not make my thesis wrong. I thought I was
entitled to write my opinion on what I got out of the
readings, not what you think I was supposed to get out
of them. I didn't think it was fair or right for you
to tell me that I "can present these as [my]
view/opinion," but that I have "missed the entire
point." How can my opinion be wrong?
I'll let you know what she says.

Congratulations, you're Washington, DC., the capitol of the United States.
What US city are you? Take the quiz by Girlwithagun.
So I feel like I've been sorta MIA lately. I don't know what's up. But I'm still here.
I had a dream last night about having my new niece around. It's the first time I've actually dreamed about her as a baby. Yeah, I don't know what it means. Jennie's only got about 2 more months. She's having a baby shower Sunday. It's all pretty exciting.
Have a happy Independence Day everyone!

-Free Spirit- You burn with a free passion. You'd
rather have a few true friends then a horde of
flase friends. You could care less of what
people think of you.
What kinda fireworks are you?

All gone!! My hopes and dreams and plans for my future. My future license plate. How could the DMV give it to someone else. It was supposed to be my personalized plate! Didn't they know I was coming?
On the way home from a nice trip to MacArthur, Jamie saw it. It was there on this car in front of us, mocking me because it knew I could not have it. The plate on the car said, "To Oz". Y'all, that was mine. Everyone knew it. Those bastards!
Having my own car will never be quite the same. The joy I would feel with that plate has been ripped from my hands before I got a full grasp on it.

That's not rain. That's bird shit. And not on my head, in case that was your next thought. On the car. A bird had freakin' diarrhea on my mom's car. There is speckled white bird shit all over my mom's car. What the hell was that bird eating? Go buy some Pepto Bismal, I mean damn.

Saw Finding Nemo and I love the seagulls. I want one of those seagulls. All they say is "mine." I think I should get one and send it to my niece, Olivia. I bet her parents would love that. Do they even sell the seagulls? They should. Dear Disney, please sell the seagulls and make sure they talk. Love, Dorothy.
We're in the process of planning a baby shower for my sister. This is fun. To an extent.
I got this random email telling me that Amazon.com is now taking pre-orders for the first season of ER on dvd. This is something that I would eventually like to have, just so I can have it. I like the show, but my world isn't going to stop if I don't go and order it right now and then sit on my porch waiting for the mail to come everyday.
And so I sit here thinking about how sometime in the future I will buy the first season of ER on dvd. Probably when I've reached my first duty station and have some money and have settled down and stuff. And that gets me to thinking about where I'm going to be stationed. I wish they could tell me right now, I really do. It'll probably be another year before I find out where I will go after school, so I hope my patience kicks in soon.
And then I start to wonder about what kind of car I will get when I move there. I'm sure I'll get the car before the first season of ER on dvd. And I wonder if I'll be able to get a personalized plate for my car in the state I'll be in. And where's the first big place I'll drive that car? I don't mean around town, I mean like a little roadtrip. Maybe I'll take a weekend and hop in my new car and drive somewhere. Maybe my first season ER dvd will be in the mail while I'm on this trip.
And maybe some of my friends will come with me. What kind of friends am I going to make? Will they be new to the area too? Maybe they'll know the area and show me around town.
And while I'm exploring the area in my new car, hopefully I'll find a church that I'll go too and really like. And they'll accept me in and I'll meet people there. Maybe I'll fall in love. I might have the first season of ER on dvd by this point.
Or maybe I'll be stationed in Norfolk(no!) and all of what I've said except about the car and roadtrip won't mean anything. But I'm sure I'll still get my first season of ER on dvd.
Do you think I've put too much thought into this whole ER dvd thing?

My niece Olivia, my brother(Chip) and sister-in-law's(Judy) daughter turned one a couple of weeks ago. Most of you know that my sister Jennie is having a baby in September. I call the baby the Bean. My Bean. Jennie's having a little girl. Well this past weekend Chip and Judy told us that she is again pregnant and is due December 3rd, their wedding anniversary. Everyone together, awww. So in two years I went from no nieces or nephews to two nieces and a something. Judy doesn't want to find out what the baby is, I'm hoping for a boy. So we have Olivia, the Bean, and Take Two. It's going to be an exciting second half of the year.

SAN DIEGO - In the latest example of art imitating life, a group of high school students has created a musical based on Winona Ryder (news)'s shoplifting trial.
Point Loma High School's "Sticky Fingers: A Tale of Saks, Lies and Videotape" satirizes the trial last fall in which the Oscar-nominated actress was convicted of taking about $6,000 worth of items from Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills.
The production is the culmination of a year's worth of work by several dozen students and is directed by teacher Larry Zeiger, who plays piano for the show and stars as CNN interviewer Larry King.
"Sticky Fingers" marks the 27th annual production by Zeiger's "Gotta Sing Gotta Dance Company."
"We're inspired by the old Mickey Rooney (news)-Judy Garland (news), `Hey, let's put on a show,' kind of spirit," said the literature, film and drama teacher, who has taught at the San Diego school for 29 years.
The musical follows a missile-factory employee and tango dancer who travels to Rodeo Drive, where she has a fateful meeting with her idol, Ryder, at Saks. The department store donated shopping bags for the set.
Ryder was invited to see the show, which opens this week, but the school hasn't received a response. Her publicist, Mara Buxbaum, said she didn't know whether the 31-year-old actress ever saw the invitation.
Jamie, you should try and get tickets.
